We took a trip to the Los Angeles Farmers Market to find out what it's like to buy direct from farmers.
Buying organic produce direct from farmers was a rare treat and one that we had not experienced before, since there is no equivalent in Dubai.
Since we come from South Africa, you would think that maybe we had shopped at a farmers market before, but sadly no. When we lived in South Africa we never explored buying from markets. Next time we're in South Africa we definitely will!
We shop at a fruit and vegetable market in Dubai but it is not a 'direct from farmer' market as very little produce is locally grown.
However, we can buy in bulk and this enables us to feel really abundant in the raw lifestyle, as we can buy cases of bananas and mangoes and tomatoes and pile the car up with watermelons and all the other produce that costs a fortune in the supermarkets!
If you eat a lot of raw food (and I hope you do!) then it is amazingly worthwhile to shop at a market and leave the supermarket stuff to the folks who think five servings a day is a lot of fruit and veg!
So hope you enjoy this short and sweet glimpse of the farmers market Los Angeles!
